Roma

We have arrived--sleep deprived and exhausted, but we've arrived.

With as much time as it took us to get out of the airport and get to our BnB, we got a surprising amount of sight seeing in. The airport consisted of trying to navigate away from tourist scams while also not just taking the easiest (read most expensive) option.

We love our housing option so far. Definitely a win on this find.

While exploring the area by the Colosseum, I got suckered by a peddler. I do my usual "no, no thank you" when they walk up. But, this guy after hearing my "no, no thank you" upon offering me 3 roses goes "well I saw you and want to give it to you as a gift". <Commence heart melting into gullibility> "Oh, really? How sweet!" He talks to us about where he's from, notices my turquoise ring (which is apparently supposed to be lucky) and meanwhile ties a thread bracelet on my wrist and then asks for money.

Joel gives him some money and he says that's not enough. So we hand him back the roses (obviously never intended to be gifted to us--like I said I'm gullible sometimes) when he says I can keep one.

Oh well, shoulda know betta.

Meanwhile, the Roman ruins were beautiful. Had a typical Italian dinner We will be going to the Vatican Museum tomorrow--so looking forward!
